About

Disclaimer: This site has no affiliation with Canon USA or any other subsidiary of Canon.

Formerly known as “5D Mark II Team”, we are a group of professional photographers, videographers and filmmakers mostly using Canon EOS HDSLR cameras for serious purposes.

But we are not limited to Canon, we like to test and explore all possible tools and options in this field.

Through this website we work to bring useful information to the community of photographers and independent filmmakers around the world.

Brief history

The original purpose of the “5D Mark II Team” blog was to act as a platform to help to conduct and support many campaigns requesting improvements for the EOS 5D Mark II, encouraging current and potential users to join us. Check one of the original posts here.

Those campaigns were aimed to help to get “Full Manual Control” on movie/video mode, which Canon released on June 2009 “by Popular Demand“. Later we worked for further improvements, encouraging customers to request the essential “Standard 24/25/30p” modes, which Canon announced in October 2009 after a huge “Calling Canon” campaign, and released in March 2010: “Developed following feedback from photographers and cinematographers”.

We kept working, giving feedback on possible fixes and improvements, because these cameras still have HUGE potential inside, not fully exploited yet.

All these long processes, along many other factors, have indeed benefited other models like 7D, 1D Mark IV and T2i/550D, which weren’t originally planned to have so rich movie features.

But there was a point on which we felt the need to expand our site and change the design and name to properly cover a broader range of topics. So the original blog was moved to a self hosted service with a new own domain name, along with many site redesigns and reorganizations of its content.

Now you are at HD Cam Team website, we hope you enjoy it!
