Canon has recently released a firmware update for the EOS 5D Mark II DSLR camera.
This new firmware, unfortunately, does not include big improvements… But it will be appreciated for those users experiencing some of the fixed issues.
It’s worth mentioning that Canon has lately released firmware updates on their regional websites at different dates, depending on each country/region. The most noticeable was reported on EOS 7D Firmware Update 1.2.5 and later articles.
This time we decided to hold the news until it was available at Canon USA. Some other Canon sites still show previous versions.
EOS 5D Mark II Firmware Update 2.0.9
Changes in this firmware:
Firmware Version 2.0.9 incorporates the following improvements and fixes.
- 1. Improves writing/reading speeds when using UDMA 7-compatible CF cards.
- 2. Fixes a phenomenon where the IS function will not work when custom function C.Fn III-2 is set to [5: IS start] and the lens attached does not have an AF stop button. This is because custom function C.Fn III-2 allows users to assign IS start to the AF stop button on the lens
- 3. Corrects misspellings in the menu screens displayed in Arabic, Portuguese, Spanish, and Thai languages.
Firmware Version 2.0.9 is for cameras with Firmware up to Version 2.0.8.?If the camera’s firmware is already Version 2.0.9, it is not necessary to update the firmware.
